What makes Walkabout different or special?

Have you ever actually watched someone’s wedding video? Were you just a little bored? Well, don’t be discouraged by what you’ve seen or what you think wedding videos typically look like. Our videos are created like a documentary film: every one is unique and creative, capturing the essence of your personality and your story. Incorporating ambient sound as well as your favorite music, we’ll compose a fun, moving depiction of your day that you’ll want to watch again and again. We’re sensitive to your need for ‘space’, however. We try to stay on the periphery whenever possible, making sure the focus is on you & your group, not the camera.

Are all the costs included in your ‘package’ price?

Even though we don’t charge mileage costs in the Boulder / Denver metro area, there may be a mileage charge if you’re out of this area. See our rate page, or call us if you fall into this category. Also, if you’re getting married 60 miles or more from Denver / Boulder, and we’re working late at night (after 9pm April-October and after 7pm November-March), for safety reasons we ask that you book us a hotel for the night.

How long will it take me to get my video?

Around 4 weeks.

I’ve been to weddings where the videographers really get into people’s faces and are intrusive. What do you do about this?

At Walkabout, we’re very sensitive to the fact that people don’t want to be distracted or annoyed by Video cameras. We use 3 chip digital cameras that allow us to operate under extremely low light conditions where we don’t need to turn on lights, and we can zoom in from a great distance. We use wireless microphones so we get broadcast quality sound without being too close. Finally, we get a feel for what’s happening so we can be at the right place at the right time- and not stepping on peoples toes! Whether you want us to interview guests or not is also a decision that rests entirely with you.

Do you travel?

Absolutely; we’ve done weddings all over the US and abroad. We’ve yet to see a video company that produces such a great product as we do, and we are in demand in many places where it is difficult to find our quality of work at such good rates.

What do you wear?

We wear suits and other semi-formal appropriate attire.

How many cameras and people do you bring?

We bring two professional camera operators to every edited wedding, and they bring 2-3 cameras. This allows us to get a variety of perspectives, have an active camera ready when emergencies arise, and insure that we always have a good angle on the action.

What type of equipment do you use?

All of our weddings are video taped with Cannon XL1 cameras or comparable digital cameras. These are 3-chip digital cameras that are often used even for the production of television programs. In addition, professional audio equipment including a variety of wireless mics and professional lighting equipment that allows us to create soft, warm, non obtrusive lighting when necessary. Quality tripods, steady-cams, filters, wide angle lenses etc., also play important roles.

What are the advantages of hiring the same company to do video and photos?

It is a good idea to hire both from the came company because they will work well together. The last thing you want on your big day is conflict between your photographer and videographer. Also, when the same company does both photos and video, still images can easily be used from the photography to be included in the video.

What is needed to retain your services?

First, the most important issue is whether we are available for your date. We only film a limited number of weddings each year and dates book up fast. If we’re available, we require a deposit of $500 to secure the date. The balance is due up to a week before the wedding. The deposit is non-refundable.

Can you hold the date for me?

Sorry, we’re unable to hold a date without a deposit. Our services are provided on a first come, first served basis, and we book up fast. I suggest contacting us early in your planning stage; lately, clients have been booking well over a year in advance. Even if you’re unsure of which package you’d like or what time to have us there, you can still put your deposit down and we’ll hold the date for you.
